I'm pooped!

(beat, burned out, bushed, busted, clichéd, consumed, depleted, destroyed, deteriorated, dinged, drained, drawn, effete, exhausted, fatigued, frayed, gone, hackneyed, had it, haggard, jaded, kaput, knocked out, old, overused, overworked, pegged out, pinched, played-out, ragged, ruined, shabby, shot, spent, stale, tattered, threadbare, timeworn, tired, tired out, totaled, used up, useless, wearied, weary, well-worn, wiped out, worn-down, worn-out, wrung out)

Seems like everytime we go to the puppy park, there are a bunch of new puppies who want to play with me. Try as hard as I can, after about 14 or 15 rasslin matches, I need to take a break! And then, there are always the peoples who bring in a Frisbee for the puppies to run after. And, since the tall guy is making me get out of bed when he does so I will stop chewing on the pillows, I haven't been able to get as much rest as a growing puppy needs.

So, bottom line is, if you want the ball, you're gonna have to go get it yourself. I'm feeling a bit timeworn!

It's not always mud...

Don't worry, I'm not going to lie down in the water this time.

But I do think I'll see what I can find!

It's very nice of the peoples to leave all this nice cool water here for me to play in.
Thank you, peoples.
Maybe I can come to your house and leave some water for you sometime.
(But not on your grass, the tall guy gets upset when I do that!)

Jack at the spa!

I find that after a hard day of running, playing, and rough-housing, a soothing day at the spa will refresh and revitalize me so that I can be ready to take on the world. Here I am at the Puppy Park Mud Baths. Please note that only the finest imported muds are used. Enjoy the soothing effect that rolling around in the mud creates. Feel the tension leave your body as the moisturing mud gets in every nook and cranny. As an extra bonus, watch as all the peoples run away when you try to say hello. It's a lucky puppy who gets to spend time at the Puppy Park Spa and Mud Baths. Open only when it has rained or the sprinkler system has been running.

Puppies, Puppies!

The tall guy and I were watching a movie the other night. It was about this puppy named TOTOTWO who was trying to get away from this green lady and it was really scary. Right in the middle of it, she was trying to kill everyone by making them sleep with puppies*! The tall guy says she could accomplish the same goal by having them sleep with me for one night! I told him his middle name should be 'so funny I forgot to laugh'.

(Note from the tall guy: You have to watch the video to see what Jack is talking about!)

May 27, 2009

I asked the tall guy how come he only had one puppy. I told him that he needs 8 puppies, so that I would always have someone to play with. He told me that if he had 8 puppies, there wouldn't be anywhere for him to sleep in the bed. He also said that if he had 8 puppies, he would need a long vacation. I told him that would be fun - all the puppies could play in the back of the car while he was driving. Then I gave him the website where he could find us all a hotel. He reminded me of how I acted last time he and I went on vacation together. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be getting any brothers or sisters any time soon.

Sticking my nose where it doesn't belong...
Episode 2
Attack of the Squirrels!
When we go walking at the local park, I see all these holes in the ground. Well, my curiosity finally got the better of me and I decided to see what was making all the holes. (The one I am looking at was empty, but I could smell that something lived down there.) I asked the tall guy what it was and he said, (and I know you won't believe this), he said it was
A GROUND SQUIRREL!!
I asked him if that was like the ground beef from the grocery store and he said not quite. I had never seen one of the ground beef squirrels, so I asked him to take a picture so I would recognize them next time I saw one.

We found all these squirrels just sitting around in the sun acting like they owned the place. There are 3 of them in the picture. I decided to go talk to them and tell them to stop making all the holes in the ground because there were already too many holes, but they all ran away before I could get to talk to them. So, if any squirrels are reading this, do not dig no more holes!

Luckily, I did not get bit on the nose this time, but the tall guy said I had better be more careful from now on, as you never can tell when someone else might bite me on the nose for sticking it where it doesn't belong. I told him that was some good advice.

And the answer is....

D) Tall guy with Frisbee on his head. He does silly things sometimes because he is a good guy who tries to make me laugh. BUT, he is not silly enough to put a picture on here with a Frisbee on his head.

The young lady in the picture below is Maya. She has the most amazing blue eyes! We were trying to give each other a kiss when we had to leave the puppy park, but I don't think we are doing it right!

If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

What Am I Barking At?

And now, it's time to play that fabulous new game show, 'What Am I Barking At?'. All you have to do is guess what I'm barking at and you win!

So, am I barking at:

A) a squirrel

B) a mean bird

C) another puppy

or

D) the tall guy with a Frisbee on top of his head.

(I'll give you a hint - notice that you can NOT see what I am barking at!)

If you think you know the answer, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope, along with a bunch of puppy cookies to me, Jack.

That reminds me... I need to ask the tall guy what my address is.

Oh well, just send your answers (and the cookies) to Jack, c/o The Tall Guy. I'm sure I'll get them!

Until next time. And remember, help control the pet population by having your pets spayed or neutered!

Why DO they call it a poodle?

We went to the park and lo and behold, someone had left the sprinkler on and made a nice poodle of water. So, seeing as how I had made the tall guy walk around the park about 5 times, I decided that one of us needed a nice cool wet break, so I just plopped myself down in the water. I am telling you, there is nothing nicer than a cool spot on a warm day. Except Cheetos.

On a completely different note, the tall guy found a website (thanks Marc!) that lets you do some really neat stuff with your pictures. It's in Japanese (I think!), but it's really easy to figure out. Here's one of the pictures we made:

See! Isn't that cool? That's me in the picture. It looks like the guy is drawing my picture and I wasn't even there!

There's like 4 bajillion different things you can do with your pictures. The website is:
http://www.keniu.com/

If you go, prepare to spend like 200 hours playing. Make lots of fun pictures of your puppies!

Warning: VICIOUSNESS AHEAD!!

I must taste good or something. I was just minding my own business at the puppy park when all of a sudden this HUGE vicious beast runs over and starts to eat me. Needless to say, I was shocked beyond belief. Fortunately, the tall guy was there to get the carnage on video.

So, if you see a HUGE beast named Daisy in your neighborhood, you should probably watch out. She is just mean and has like 4000 sharp little evil teeths and she will eat your ear and your tongue and maybe even bite your butt. And THEN she will go home and brag to all of her friends!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

May 21, 2009

Since I live near an Air Force base, I get to see a lot of airplanes up in the sky. The tall guy says I must think they are birds, since I watch them so carefully. I don't know if I should tell him that I know the difference between an airplane and a bird. I would like to go up in an airplane sometime, but the tall guy says that big puppies have to stay in their toy box and don't get to look out the windows. Well that's not fair. I would sit in my seat with my seat belt fastened and look out the window and say 'Thank you!' when they brought me a snack. I would also not lean back in my seat because I know there is not a lot of room for the peoples behind me. I think I would like to sit in the exit row, so I can help the peoples if I needed to.

Have any of your puppies been on an airplane before?

I got caught!!

In what may be the shortest video in YouTube history, the tall guy caught me up on the bed eating (er... sleeping on) one of his pillows. I know I'm not supposed to eat (er.... sleep on) the pillow, but I just can't help it. I don't know what a deer is, or why he would be looking at headlights, but evidently that's what I look like. When the video ended, I put the pillow back where it was supposed to be and then got down from the bed. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Oh, if you look carefully, you might be able to see a cow (that used to be) on the nightstand behind me. I'm also not supposed to eat (er.... play with) the cow. I think it would be better if we didn't mention that to the tall guy.

Do not stick your nose where it doesn't belong!

I found out the hard way that some of the older puppies do not like when you stick your nose in their face when they are laying under the picnic table at the puppy park. One of the dogs, who is usually very nice, decided that I was being 'nosy' and actually bit me on the nose. Needless to say, I was not a happy puppy, but the tall guy said that I was ok.

After that fiasco, I found another puppy who wanted to play. His dad said he is a labradoodle (does that make his mother an etch-a-sketch?). That's him in the picture above. He is not trying to hog all the water; it's just the angle that the tall guy took the picture.

When we got home, the tall guy made me some cookies from a recipe that he found at Katie and Louis' bloghouse. I decided they were very good, even if the tall guy did make them himself (he's trying to learn how to be a better cook, so I try to give him all the encouragement I can). I didn't know if I would like salmons, but the tall guy told me that it was a type of fish, and it was pretty good. So if your puppy has been good today, go over to Katie and Louis' blog and make them some salmon cookies. (They are even good if you burn the edges, but don't tell the tall guy I told you about that!)

Happy guy, happy guy!!

Today on my walk, I had 3 peoples tell the tall guy that I was a happy guy. I try to tell them that my name is Jack, not Guy, but they just don't seem to understand. Sometime I think the tall guy is the only person who understands me when I talk.

Speaking of which, does anyone know if puppies can go into the movie theaters? I heard about a new movie called 'UP' which has a talking dog named Dug and I want to go find out how he does it!

You can read more about Dug right HERE!
(Mr. Lassiter, you can send my check to the tall guy!)

Sunday in the park with Jack

The tall guy took me to the park yesterday and right as we were about ready to come home, some really nice peoples came with their 3 puppies. Well, I asked the tall guy if I could stay for a little while (actually, I just laid down on the ground so the puppies would know I was friendly) and one of the peoples asked the tall guy if I could play with the puppies. Boy, would I!!!

There were 2 really fast boxers and 1 golden retriever puppy who is about the same age that I am. The really nice peoples are watching her for their neighbor who was in the service and was going to be gone for a whole year! That is really great of the peoples to watch the puppy for their neighbor. She (the golden retriever puppy) was really fun and could run really fast and all the puppies listened and came when they were called. I hope they come back to the park next time I am there!

PS. I am sorry the tall guy didn't get a picture of all of us. Here is a picture of the puppy (who didn't get in the picture above) and the golden retriever.

I can't decide...

Sometimes I like to smile when the tall guy takes my picture and sometimes I don't. Actually, I think it all depends on what he's doing to make me look at him so he can take my picture. As you can tell, it's very hard for him to get me to look directly at him, so usually my pictures are in 3/4 profile.

So, which do you like better - smile or no smile?

TOO MANY EXCITEMENTS!!!!

I have had so many excitements, I just don't know where to start! The beautiful puppies in the picture above are my brother and sister! Their person, Helen, brought them to the puppy park so that I could meet them today. I did not even know they were coming. They were very nice to me and to all the other puppies. They had a good time playing and drinking the delicious puppy park water. The young lady in the brown collar is Jet and the young man is Dirk. I think we all look exactly alike, don't you?

Unfortunately, the tall guy did not get any pictures of the 3 of us together. But I told him it was ok, since we were all so excited to be able to play at the puppy park. (Note from the tall guy: Next time you see a picture with 3 puppies looking at the camera and being all well-behaved, it was NOT taken at the dog park with all the distractions. Everytime I had a good picture lined up, one of the puppies (usually Jack) decided he was tired of being a model and ran off to play. My advice: sleeping puppy pictures are the way to go!)

After Dirk and Jet left, I played some more with my friends and then went and waited in the mud for my next excitement!!

Then when we got home, we had ANOTHER EXCITEMENT!! We received an award from Ms. ~K over at DogDaze:

“This award is presented to those dog bloggers out there who know the meaning of GREATNESS. Their blogs are consistently interesting, funny, or informative. Their KINDNESS is extended to others without expectation of it’s return, and their FRIENDSHIP inspires others to do EXTRAORDINARY things. These are the blogs you can’t wait to read everyday.

In short, they are AWE-INSPIRING, full of wonder, and simply PAWsome! Pass this award on to 4 others who you feel exemplify a “Paw”some Blog, and leave a note saying why you think they deserve the Pawsome Award!”

Well, needless to say, we had to tell everyone we knew. So we figured the best way was to put it on here so that all of our friends could see!

Now for the hard part - choosing 4 other blogs from all the puppy blogs we love. So, in no particular order:

A Red Dog in the Red Rocks - We like this blog because Ruby Red Dog writes the most interesting stories and we always want to find out what is happening with Ruby;

Double Woof! - We like this blog because Rufus lives in a whole nother country and is always very nice to Indie;

Minnie-Moo - We like Minnie-moo because 1) we like saying Minnie-Moo :) and 2) her peoples found her at the rescue place and brought her home and made her very happy;

Welcome to the Happy Haus - We like Louie and Katie because they are beautiful and because they are learning to be helper dogs. AND they are like the BIGGEST puppies I have ever seen!

It was very hard picking just 4 peoples but the tall guy helped me. I told him we should go visit all the peoples and tell their puppies that we shared our award with them, but he said they would read about it on here. So, no road trip for me this time! Thank you once again to Ms. ~K for thinking of us!

This grass stuff is GREAT!!

Even though we live in Arizona and it's getting hot, the tall guy said that all puppies should have some grass to play in. He bought me some grass so that I can be outside and not have to lie on the rocks. I told him that was mighty nice of him. I also told him we should get some grass for INside the house, but he didn't think that was such a good idea, maybe because of this. I've already learned that when I need to GO, it's ok to go on the rocks. That makes the tall guy happy!

Shall we dance?

Jack: It's my turn to lead.
Armand: No, it's MY turn to lead.
Jack: You dance like you have 4 left feet.
Armand: Well you dance like your tail's been bobbed!
Jack: YOU dance like your father was a cat!
Armand: You SMELL like your mother was a cat.
Jack: It's too hot to rassle, let's go lie in the shade with our tongues sticking out!
Armand: Good idea.

Sometimes I see things that I've never seen before. When that happens, I ask the tall guy what it is. It seems like he knows what EVERYTHING is, but I think he's looking up stuff on his iPhone behind my back!

Happy Mother's Day!

This is my beautiful mom, Cassie. Happy Mother's Day, Mom!! She lives with the Tuttles at Sundancers Labs. I am in there somewhere. (I think I'm the one trying to hide under the blanket.) These are also my brothers and sisters, but I haven't seen them since I moved in with the tall guy. I hope they are having as much fun as I am!

This is me at the park yesterday.

The animal rescue peoples brought a bunch of dogs to the park so that people could pick out which one they wanted to take home with them. I was a little worried that someone would pick me, but the tall guy told me that I was stuck with him forever! I was relieved. I tried to talk the tall guy into getting me a brother or sister and he said something about waiting until I got a little older. So, I will wait until tomorrow and ask him again, since I will be older then. But, in the meantime, if you're looking for a nice puppy or dog, go talk to the animal rescue peoples where you live!

My Vacation!

The tall guy where somewhere yesterday called FENIX and so he said I could have a spa day at the puppy hotel and let me tell you - it was FANTASTIC! I got so excited, I didn't even mind when the tall guy left. It was really fun because there were other puppies there that I could play with and it wasn't even HOT because we were inside.

The tall guy got back in the afternoon and picked me up and I came home and just went to sleep! So, if your peoples are going to FENIX, tell them to let you stay at the puppy hotel and maybe we can play together!

PS. I went to FENIX about 2 weeks ago. It's pretty nice. You have to ride in the back of the car a long time but then you get to go to Joe's Farm Grill and roll around in all the really nice grass.

This water bottle was taunting me!

So I had to taunt it right back! However, I did not call it any names, because the tall guy says that calling water bottles names is not nice. Sometimes, I think he makes up things just to see what I will do!

Is it my breath?

Just kidding! Actually my breath smells like a clean, clear mountain breeze after a gentle spring rain. Or maybe that was just the dryer sheets that I've been eating. (Just kidding again!!)

This is Rudy. He and I played together at the dog park today. The best part was that someone had turned on the sprinklers at the dog park and there were mud puddles everywhere. Needless to say, both Rudy and I were quite the picture by the time we left the dog park!

Now that I'm getting older, I want to be able to show all the young puppies the right way to act! Here I am showing one of the new puppies at the dog park what he should do when he sees someone with a treat. I told him that if he gives them a look with the puppy eyes, they will run over to where he is and give him something good. He doesn't quite have it down yet, but he's still learning.

Oh, and stay off my yard!!!
The tall guy told me that's what all the old guys say to the young kids! :)

I want to catch that bird!

One of these days, I'm going to be able to run fast enough and jump high enough to catch one of those birds that I always see up in the sky! The tall guy said that I wasn't looking at a bird, but that I was looking at a KITE, so I had to remind him that a kite is:
" any of several small birds of the hawk family Accipitridae that have long, pointed wings, feed on insects, carrion, reptiles, rodents, and birds, and are noted for their graceful, gliding flight. Compare black kite, swallow-tailed kite, white-tailed kite."

Needless to say, I'm not allowed on the Internets for the next few days....

= = = = =

On the other hand, Minnie-moo (who is really beautiful and has a blog like me) found a really great website.
Here's what I did for Minnie-moo's challenge:

I was having a bad day :)

May 3, 2009

The tall guy and I went to find some more water for me to play in. We had to climb down this really steep trail and when we got to the bottom, there was some water. It wasn't as much as the other place we went to, but still I got to run in and out of the water. Unfortunately, some peoples had left a can in the water, so I decided to be a good citizen and clean up the trash! I talked to all the other puppies at the park and we decided that some peoples should not be allowed to play outside if they are going to leave trash behind!

Hey guys, come play!

I think one of my favorite things to do so far is go to the dog park. I was so excited about going to the dog park that I woke the tall guy up at 6:30AM this morning so we could go. Even then, it takes him forEVER* to get ready to go. I think maybe we should start getting up at 5 AM so we can get to the park sooner! I'll see what he has to say about it tomorrow!

PS - I saw what he had to say about it and it wasn't very pretty!!! I'm glad there weren't any young puppies around! Let's just say I don't think we'll be going to the dog park at 5AM any time soon!**

* Note from the tall guy: Jack 'Forever' = Tall Guy '15 minutes'.

** 2nd note from the tall guy: He got that right!!

Come play with me..... NOW!!!

Here I am at the dog park TRYING to get Jewels to come play with me. All the peoples love it when I bark under the table, because it is really loud and they just LOVE listening to me bark, especially early in the morning.
