It's almost time...

Note from Jack: Well it seems that after we started to create the video, we realized that Norwood had a VERY STRICT time limit of two minutes for entries into the Pawdance Film Festival! We had so many good suggestions from everyone for characters and dialogue, we decided that we needed more than two minutes to get everything in. So we decided to do this 2 minute preview to submit to the Festival. I've got the tall guy working frantically on the FULL episode which we will post just as soon as he decides that sleep isn't important!

Note from the tall guy: I really want to thank everyone for all their wonderful ideas. I never thought that so many puples (that's people and puppies) would want to get involved - it was happily overwhelming! As Jack said, we didn't want to leave anyone out AND we need to work on a story that can accommodate 25 lead characters. (Where's Agatha Christie when you need her?) So, I'll keep working on the movie and try to incorporate as many of your ideas as possible. Also, if anyone from the Pixar studios is reading this and can offer suggestions on how to make dogs talk, it would be greatly appreciated!

SCRIP?

What's a scrip?

Is this a scrip?

(TG: PSSST..... It's SCRIPT!)

Oh well, what's a script?

TG: That's all the words the actors on TV have to say.

WHAT? You mean they just don't make it up as they go along.

TG: Only on the Fox news shows.

I didn't know we needed to do words.
I don't know if I even KNOW enough words for a whole script!
I sure could use your help to write the script
for our fantastic new TV series/movie*.

Here is how YOU can help!

1) Tell me if you want to be a good guy/girl,
a bad guy/girl, a townspeoples, or a specific character.

2) Tell me if it's ok to kill you off.
(Who knows - one of the bad guys might come in
and get rid of the whole town!)

3) MOST IMPORTANTLY:
I need a line of Western dialogue
(the tall guy says that means the words you want to say).
If you're a really good writer, you can have TWO lines of dialogue.
(If you are one of the brave peoples that have more than
one furry child,
you can send in different dialogue for each one.
The tall guy says you are very kind and good for
taking care of more than one pet!)

The tall guy says then he'll take all the dialogues and make it into a movie.
Somehow.

So start crackin'.
This show ain't writin' itself! :)

*PS - The tall guy said if it turns out REALLY good we can enter it into
Norwood's Pawdance film festival!

Holy Cactus*, Cowboy!!

(*Evidently the holes do not harm the cactus!)

I never knew how hard getting a new TV show started could be.

I've already had one puppy come up and challenge me to a shootout because I didn't cast his sister's husband's wife's best friend's second son!

And then all the calls from agents wanting to know things like who gets top billing and how many walks a day will each puppy get and what about school and on and on and on.

I tell them all the same thing: Talk to the tall guy. He's in charge of all of that!! Here's his phone number:

(Note from Jack: Phone number redacted under threat of sleeping outside for the next 15 years)

But they don't listen.

So I'm just going to go to my happy place and look at this nice picture of clouds that the tall guy took yesterday:

And now the answer to yesterday's quiz. Exchange papers please!

Who WAS that in the cast?

video

1) Cowboy Happy Jack

2) Sassy

3) Cabana

4) Mr Koda MD

5) Tootie

Monument Valley

6) Darwin

7) Remington

8) Samantha

9) Sierra Rose

10) Dory

11) Tank

What the tall guy said he would do to me if I put his phone number on here!

12) Jazzi

13) Sam

14) Parker

15) Sage

16) Mango

More Monument Valley

and of course

17) Madi (HFP - honorary feline puppy!)

How well did you do?

The Big Announcement!

video

It was only fair to let everyone who asked be on the show
as the tall guy tells me how important it is to share.
As you can see, there are going to be a LOT of stars on this new TV show!

I borrowed the music from a TV show called
'BONANZA' until we get our theme song ready.
The tall guy paid for it on iTunes,
so if the Bonanza people don't want us to use it,
he said just let him know and he will get rid of it
quicker than Hoss can eat a pie!
(I have no idea what that means.)

I also fixed this one so you have to click on it to watch the movie
(unlike the one the other day that automatically started to play
every time you loaded the page which drove the tall guy a little bonkers).

So, congratulations to all of my friends for graciously
offering to star in

Now here's today's puzzle:
See if you can name ALL the stars in the movie above!
You didn't have anything to do for the rest of the day did you? :)

We Need YOUR Help!

Think you can be the next
'American Paw-dol'?
Here's your chance!
Every good TV show needs a theme song.
Music isn't easy,
especially that Gm7 chord
(no thumbs!)

So, without further ado
here are my first attempts at a theme song for

Jack-igan's Island

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful pup.
That started when he headed west,
And forgot to bring a cup!

He was a mighty barking pup,
His voice was loud and sure.
Five puppies and a kitty-cat
Went west where the air was pure!

No, that's no good......it doesn't really tell a story!

===
The Jack-y Bunch

Here's a story,
of a lovely puppy,
who was bringing up 3 very lovely pups
all of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
the youngest one in curls.

Well, that's just silly. First of all, I don't have any pups and secondly, where is their mother? What kind of mother just runs off and leaves her babies with me?

===
The Beverly Jack-billies

Come 'n listen to my story 'bout a pup named Jack,
A poor Labrador, barely kept his family fed....

No no no. That won't work either. For one thing 'fed' doesn't rhyme with 'Jack'.

Well, I'm stumped. I guess I'll have to ask the tall guy if he can come up with something on that big black thing that he keeps in the room I'm not allowed to go into!

If you have any ideas, they would be greatly a-paw-ciated! :)

Speaking of songs (see note below):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzf4mK2LnHE

Note: Oh well, there was a really cool video here of a dog
who didn't like the song "Happy Birthday" but it didn't want to embed,
so I just linked directly to it on YouTube!

On Location
With Cowboy Happy Jack

Howdy Pawtners!
Today we're off scouting shooting locations for our new series:

Striving for the utmost realism for our new show, I'm taking some time out of my busy rehearsal schedule to see if I can find places that will truly reflect how it was living in the old West. Like in 1974 old!!

Here I've come upon a waterin' hole. I don't know why anyone would want to water a hole, but it seems like all the westerns have to have one.

And of course you have to run across a bunch of THESE before you find the waterin' hole. This is the no-waterin' hole. This is where at least one of the guest stars for the week has to come to die because they didn't listen to you when you told them there wasn't any water in that direction. I think this will be a pretty good place for dyin'. (And possible Emmy nomination in the 'best dying scene next to a no-waterin' hole because you didn't listen to Cowboy Happy Jack' category!)

That reminds me, everyone needs to practice talking without putting a 'g' on the end of words. Evidently the letter G wasn't invented in the old West. They had this letter (') instead.

Our next location is on MARS. Yes, our new TV series

may include some SCI-FI elements to attract the young geeky-nerdy types. Maybe our wagon train will be attacked by aliens and we will be transported to distant planets. Who knows? Certainly not the writers!!

I don't think this helmet fits quite the way it should!

Wardrobe!!!!

LOOK! LOOK! LOOK!
Casting news for the new series will be posted shortly! All of my bloggy friends have so much talent, it was easy to find the best of the best to star in our new show.

So, here's Cowboy Happy Jack, wishin' you a rootin' tootin' hi-falutin' shootin' scootin'...

(TG: That's enough. Say good-bye now.

CHJ: 'ood bye!)
===

An important note from the TG:
I was reading Khyra's blog yesterday and she brought up a very scary point. Do you have your blog backed up? I didn't (I kept a pdf file until recently - when my computer crashed and burned!) So, I'm trying the WordPress backup to see if it will keep a copy of the entire blog (not just the last post). I would hate to think about losing almost 2 years worth of work (and I should have known better!) I'll let you know how it goes!

5 minute later update!
It seems to work pretty well. I would give it an A-. It copied over all the stuff WITH THE EXCEPTION of BLOGGER VIDEOS - the YouTube videos came over fine. There are some formatting issues, but as long as the content is there, I don't have a problem with that. The issue with the blogger videos may be something that I can correct (as I haven't used WordPress before). It took about 4 minutes to copy over 500 posts AND the comments AND the pictures as well. It only takes a few minutes to set up a WordPress account. So thank you Khyra and Khyra's mom for reminding me to do this!

Wow!!

I have been watching thousands of videos while looking for
the next superpup to star with me in my exciting new TV series:

video

You'll notice how excited I am at all the talent that is out there
in puppy land!

You'll also notice that I did NOT jump on the table
(even though I wanted to!)

You may even also notice the black couch behind me.
The tall guy said to tell you that that is my sleeping couch
because he does not want you to think that he is a bad housekeeper
because of all the dog hair on it.

So please start preparing your stuff if you would like
to be a part of the most exciting TV program
ever in the whole entire world of TV.
Even better than Lassie
(who, by the way, was really a boy
even though they called him Lassie!
Which reminds me of a nice puppy
called Darwin
who is really a girl!)
Note: There will NOT be a swimsuit competition this year!

Or have your agent call my agent!

The answers to yesterday's puppy parade:
1 - Toto (from the Wizard of Oz)
2 - Santa's Little Helper (from The Simpsons)
3 - Petey - (from Our Gang/Little Rascals)
4 - Bullet (Roy Roger's Dog - I thought it was Rin Tin Tin too but it's not)
5 - K-9 - (from Doctor Who, the BBC Science Fiction show)

Congratulations to both Remington and Samantha
who came OH SO CLOSE
to winning this brand new 2010 BMW Luxury Convertible!
(Oh, did I forget to tell you that was the prize???)

If only they had gotten ALL 5 answers correct!
Better luck next time!

(I don't think the people who make cowboys hats
have got the puppy ear thing just right yet!)

Hi, Cowboy Happy Jack here.

After watching a LOT of TV Westerns, I've decided that I am
missing something for my new TV show!
That's right.
I need a faithful sidekick who can sometimes provide comic relief!

I've looked at a lot of resumes these past few weeks.

(1)
(2)
(3)
(4)
(5)
but none of those don't seem to be a good fit.

So, here's your chance.

If you would like to be my new sidekick for our bound-to-be-a-hit TV series

please drop me a line and let me know.

Good luck.

And may the best puppy (or feline puppy) win!

And just so your peoples don't feel left out,
see if they can tell you the names of the 5 puppies above!
(The first one who gets it right will win an
autographed 8 x 10 picture of
Cowboy Happy Jack
suitable for framing
or to put up in your chicken house!)

OH!!! Look what I found (courtesy of Twinkie and Norwood)

Pretty cool huh!!

Coming soon!
Cowboy Happy Jack
in his new TV series

(TG: You can't say ho.
CHJ: I can't? Why not?
TG: And we're pretty well west.
CHJ: So, I should just say WARD? That doesn't make any sense.
TG: You're right. You'll have to come up with a new name.)

And now,
Cowboy Happy Jack
in his new tv series:

(TG: Uh, I think we had better go back to the original.)

Join us each week as we blaze trails to new adventures.
New lands.
(CHJ: We're going to look for Remington?
TG: No, he's a NEWFOUNDLAND, not new lands.
CHJ: Oh.)

(CHJ: So if we're not looking for Remington, what will the tv series be about?
TG: Oh I don't know. Wagon trains, and finding gold and living in the old west.
CHJ: No cookies?
TG: Maybe cookies.
CHJ: I'm in!)

So stay tuned for our first exciting episode:
Cowboy Happy Jack and the
Missing Miner's Lost Treasure of Doom!

I learnt a new song!

The tall guy decided I needed to learn a new song,
(He said my version of Telephone, by Lady Gaga
was getting a bit old!)
So, here is what he taught me:

99 Bottles!

99 bottles to chew on the ground,
99 bottles to chew!

Take one down,
Chew it around,

Chew it around...

Chew it around....

Hmmmm, chew it around....

This is going to be a LONG song.

So to entertain you while I finish:

AVATAR may have 3D
but, for today only,
I will bring you
SCRATCH AND SNIFF!

What do you mean that's not what you mean by scratch and sniff?
What other kind IS there?

From TG: Someone asked about blooming cacti, so I found one today out on our 15th walk. As you can see, this would hurt SO bad if you got stuck.

But then you have these amazingly colorful flowers along with the needles!

Get down,
Get funky!

Have you noticed that most of my pictures seem to look like
the camera was on top of a 25 story crane?

That's what happens when you have
a tall guy taking the pictures.
Fortunately, the top of my head is very photogenic.

I told the tall guy that he needed to get down to eye level
and roll around on the ground with me.

See! Now I can actually tell when he is about to take a picture!

And you're not fooling me by holding leaves over your head so that I think
it's something to eat just to get me to look up either.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, and I will lick your face.
And we all know where my tongue has been!

So from now on,
sing this song when you are taking pictures:
Get down,

Get funky,

When you take pictures of your monkey!
