Jack's 60 Second Mystery!

I noticed it when we were out walking yesterday. The tall guy didn't seem to notice it. Maybe it was because we were like 3 miles away from it. But I did. The tall guy was just trying to get home. Something about needing a drink of water. But I persisted. I started to walk one direction, the tall guy wanted to go the other. Usually, he wins. But then I gave him my puppy eyes. He can't resist when I do the puppy eye thing. So, he said we would go see what I was so determined to find. We quickly crossed the street and went up the sidewalk. The closer we got, the faster I walked. Time seemed to stand still as we rushed toward our goal. All of a sudden, there it was!

That's right. A big old meaty chicken bone.

Can you believe that someone threw this out? Just look at it. There's enough meat on there to feed Sassy, Zack, and Buddy AND me. Why, you could probably feed 200 Miss Mindy's and have enough left over to make Sunday dinner for Remington!

And did I get to eat it? Eat it? I didn't even get within 3 feet of it before I was DRAGGED away by my string. After all the work I put in!!

So, there's my mystery. Who left this nice chicken bone sitting on the side of the road? Were they waiting to see if it would get to the other side?

I guess we'll never know!

PS. It is still there today. And the tall guy STILL won't let me eat it!

Well he is finally back home!

You may have noticed that the tall guy has not been writing on your blogs for the past couple of days. That is because he was not even here! He left one day and went somewhere and not only did he not tell me where he was going, he did not even TAKE ME with him!

He just got back home today and he said

he had to fly up in the sky in an aeroplane.

He took this picture to prove to me.

He has no idea where this is.

But it is somewhere up in the sky.

Evidently they do not allow dogs to fly on the aeroplanes. Besides, he said I would not like it because of all the people turning into sardines.

Once again, I have no idea what he is talking about.

But he is finally home again,

and that is all that matters.

What I Did On My Christmas Vacation

We went to a place called Flagpole.*

It was cold and there was snow on the ground.
The tall guy said it was 19 little circles at night.
He knew that because I had to go outside
several times just to make sure it was still cold.
I made sure it was cold
at 12AM, 2AM and 3AM.

I even got to get up on the bed as the people in the hotel knew that I was there and they didn't even mind.

The cold weather must make things grow really big.

We saw a big cow!

I was not in jail.

The hotel room we were in had something

called a balcony that I could go out

and say hello to all the people outside.

We even got to go to a dog park.

There were a lot of dogs there

even in the cold.

The dogs didn't seem to mind.

I even found a Fribsee** that someone

had left at the park.

I left it there when we left so the other

dogs could play with it too.

The tall guy said I was having so much fun,

he tried to make a movie.

It was getting dark, so it might be hard to see.

We were playing,
but the other dog got bored,

so I decided I would eat the stick.

I liked all the cold and the snow,

and calling and getting room service

at 5AM when the tall guy was asleep,***

so I hope we get to go back soon.

And that is what I did on my Christmas vacation.

Playing in the snow!

Someone asked if I got to do zoomies in the snow. As you can see, I sorta got to do them. Unfortunately, the tall guy was on the other end of my string and he wasn't too happy when I started pulling him down the hill. Which may explain why the video ends so quickly. And why you don't get to hear him yelling at me to stop running so he can stand up. And why you don't see how wet his pants got when he fell on his behind.

Well, you know what tomorrow is!

But did you know what YESTERDAY was?

Fortunately, the tall guy let me open one of my presents from Max before Christmas morning. He said that 2 days before Christmas should be designated as "You are driving me crazy!" Day because I kept trying to open all the presents under the tree (but only the ones with my name on them!) Max sent me a bunch of stuff but I haven't gotten to open the rest of it yet.

As you can see, I had a really good time opening my present, especially when I found that there was even cardboard along with the present!! I really like cardboard.

So, thank you so very very much to Max (and his mom and Maggie Mae too).

And we hope that you had the best "Driving me crazy" day ever!

And a Very Merry Christmas too!

Did You Know About This?!?

We did not get to go to the snow yet, because the road is still closed, but we went somewhere that I had never even known there was in existence!!
We went to a place that had a bunch of FOOD TRUCKS!
Did you know about food trucks?
It's like a place where you can get food, but they are in a truck and they might even come to your house and give you some delicious foods if you ask them.

The tall guy got some Korean tacos, a Cuban sandwich and a pumpkin whoopie pie.

I got a carrot.

He needs to keep that in mind when Christmas rolls around!

We got the rains!

It has been raining for 3 days now. The tall guy says that he loves it, but then again, he doesn't have to go outside when he needs to GO. And, we can't really walk in the rain because someone doesn't like getting wet, although he gets in the shower every morning. Sometimes I just can't understand him.

On the other hand, there is a lot of snow up on the mountains. I asked the tall guy if we could go, but the said the roads were closed. Maybe we could walk up to where the snow is! The tall guy said we would go next week when they let cars go up. YEAH!!!

Would you like to play soccer with me?

It's even more fun when the ball has a hole in it, because after you get tired of playing soccer, you can play 'tug-of-war' with the ball. Although I guess it would be called 'tug-the-ball-with-the-hole-in-it'. The tall guy said he got this ball at the Target and it's the only soccer ball that he found that I have not yet destroyed. Well, except for the hole, but I'm not even sure that I did that.

In which we go on the hiking...

This is my "Would you PLEASE hurry up?" look.

We went on the hiking again down in the mountains, which is not to be confused with up in the mountains, as they are two different sets of mountains. Unfortunately, someone whose name shall remain TG, decided that we were on the wrong trail, so by the time he realized we weren't going on the trail he wanted to be on, we had almost worn out our hiking muscles. So, we turned around and went up the right trail, but we didn't go as far as I would have liked. But we did hike about 920 miles, according to the same guy who shall remain named TG. Actually, I measured it and it was only about 2.5 miles, but since his legs are longer than mine, maybe it just seemed like 920 miles to him.

Up the mountain...

Since the video yesterday was acting up, I asked the tall guy to put up some pictures of our trip up the mountain from Monday.

As you can see, it was very cloudy all the way up to the top. There was snow up there last week, but someone must have borrowed it (maybe Remington's dad, Mike) because most of it was gone.

It got colder and colder as we went up the mountain. It was only 33 little circles by the time we got up to the almost top.

As you can see, it was precipitating. The tall guy says that is when it's not raining and it's not snowing, it's just doing something.

All I know is that I was being beat to death by the little icy things hitting me all over my head! Fortunately, I remembered to wear my fur coat, so I wasn't cold.

It was a very nice trip. I even got to eat on some stick for about 2 seconds until the tall guy made me drop it!

We even got to stop at McDonald's on the way back and I got my very own order of Chicken McNuggets. Well, I got ONE McNuggets, but the tall guy bought me my own order, but he wouldn't let me eat all of them. I think there is a thief in the car because after I ate my one McNuggets, I looked and the rest of them were gone! So be on the look-out for McNugget thieves in your area!!

I asked the tall guy if he needed any help cooking for Thanksgiving and he said no, that we had a whole kitchen full of people cooking for us. I sure hope that he told the people at the restaurant what I like to eat! Although on second thought, there's not much that I've found that I don't like to eat, so I guess it will all be good.

Sleeping 101

by Jack

There are some rules one should follow if one wishes to get the best night's sleep. We will start with a few of the basics.

1. Take up as much of the bed as possible. Why should you be uncomfortable just so someone else can sleep where you want to be?

2. Make sure you're on the side of the bed that is where your peoples sleep. That way they will understand that it's your bed too.

3. At least one part of your body needs to be hanging off the bed. That way your peoples will feel sorry for you and get a bigger bed, even if they already have a California King.

4. Make sure you shed a lot of hair. That way they will have to put down extra stuff for you to sleep on so that your hair will not get all over the bed. Remember, the more stuff you can sleep on, the softer the bed will be! So what if it doesn't match the rest of the bed. Who do they think you are? Martha Stewart?

Going to the hiking!

The tall guy decided that we needed to head back to the mountains and go to the hiking. We went back to the same place that we went to the camping, but instead of staying inside, we just walked around all over the outside. Here I am riding in the car on the way to the hiking:

It was really nice and cool and with actual real trees. I decided to get a big sniff so I could remember all the good smell when we got back home. It obviously made me very happy (or I am about to sneeze).

Here we are walking up one of the trails. The tall guy said to ignore the fact that my string is very very taut as that does not mean that I was pulling him up the trails because he is slow as molasses!

I even got to say hello to another dog. He was very nice, but the tall guy did not take his picture. So, you will just have to imagine that I have just walked by a very nice dog in that last picture!

So, if you come to visit me, I will have the tall guy

take us to the hiking. I think you will really enjoy it.

BTW (which stands for 'Bark This Way' in case you didn't know), the place we went to is called Madera Canyon. It has some really big mountains. You can even walk all the way up to the top of them. The tall guy says it's about 5 miles and 10000 feets. I guess that's how many feets you need to get to the top!

We Went To The Camping!

And we saw all sorts of wildlife!

I had not ever seen no turkeys before.

What did you see on YOUR walk today?

We saw a rabbit! It did not even move, but the tall guy said that we couldn't go talk to it. It was like 15 feet away from us.

But then, a roadrunner decided to go running in front of it and scared the rabbit so they both ran off into the grass.

We also saw a lot of little baby lizards hiding in the dirt.

There must have been a lot of lizard lovin' a few months ago!!

More Birthday Fol-de-rol!

The tall guy asked me what I would like to do for my birthday, so I told him I thought we should drive back up to the mountains. So that is what we did!

We had a very nice hike and I got to eat some cheese crackers on the way home. It was nice and cool up there. The tall guy said he would move there, but there is not no place to buy Pepsi, so every time he wanted a Pepsi, we would have to drive all the way back down the mountain.

I think it's just because all the houses cost like a million dollars, but whatever!

Oh How He Laughed!

After the tall guy read your comments about me getting a brother or sister, boy how he did laugh!! He laughed so hard I thought I was gonna have to do something bad just to get him to stop laughing. Instead, I just took a nap. Yes, that's me sleeping on the new couch which is covered with bedspreads. Evidently something about trying to keep it clean. I don't know.

I know it's hard to believe now, but that puppy in the last post was me when I was little. "But Jack, you're so big now, how could you have ever been that little?", you ask. I know!! I don't understand it myself.

But anyway, we are not (no way, no how) getting a brother or sister on Tuesday. But I will give you another clue:

Actually, I don't think it explains anything!!

You've probably seen all those pictures of UFOs that are really fuzzy and kinda sorta make you think that there may actually be something out there.

Well, here's what the tall guy saw when he first started making the movie where I was trying to get him out of bed the other day.

Coincidence? Alien? Possession?

Maybe I'm like Sookie and have some secret magic power that only people know about! Maybe ALL puppies have this secret power!

Then again, maybe it's just the camera light reflecting off my eyes.

Yeah, that's what it is. Just the camera light....

It's appears that the tall guy went to the bakery and got himself a cimmamomon bun.
He said I would not like no cimmon bun, so I guess I will not ever get to find out what it is.

Learn a new trick

with Jack!!

Here is one of my favorite tricks!!

When we are out walking,

the tall guy likes to take my picture

with his EyePhone.

Unfortunately, the EyePhone is not

always the fastest way to take a picture.

So, by the time the tall guy takes

my picture,

I often end up looking like this!

See, isn't that a great trick!

You should try it sometime.

Or try this one.

Look directly at the camera until the tall guy

pushes the button.

Then turn your head!

It's a hoot and a half I tell you!

It seems that while we were out on our walk this morning, I wanted to go one way and the tall guy wanted to go another way. Well, I might have just slightly looked at him and then I heard the following:

I didn't even know they could do that.

I hope they don't go rolling off down the road by themselves some day. I'm pretty attached to them!

It seems that SOMEONE got a new car but have I been allowed to ride in it?
No. We have had to WALK on our walks.
Can you believe it?

It seems that SOMEONE said he would like to have a car for at least one day that didn't have a dog fuzz covered interior.

I asked him what was wrong with a dog fuzzed covered interior as I happen to think it makes the whole car more comfortable.

So if you see a tall guy riding around your neighborhood without a dog in a car without any dog hair in it, wave. It might be SOMEONE.

Guess What We Did?

Yep, we went up to the mountains to get away from the hot.

I liked looking out the window.

The tall guy said it's hard to take a picture and drive at the same time!

That's why I'm blurry!

There was even water up there.

It was nice and shady and it wasn't even hot!

We even saw a flower we had never seen before!

It looks like a dandelion, but not like any dandelion we had seen before!

The tall guy has submitted the book to the Amazons so it should be available in a couple of days. If a bunch of people buy it when it first becomes available, then it becomes one of Amazon's Hot Sellers and it gets recommended to a lot of people and then more people will buy it! It's a good vicious cycle! We will let you know when it shows up on the Amazons.

We ended up with 27 recipes and some of them are even actual

REAL FOODS that you can actually even EAT!!

So tell all of your friends to go buy the book.

Remember, all the money (except for what Amazon gets)

will go to the French Bulldog Rescue Network

TG: Thank you for all the well wishes after my recent celebration of The Poisoning of the Food holiday. A good time was had by none, but I'm feeling much better. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I ate that caused it, but I did lose 10 pounds!

It's time to select which organization we would like to support with the recipe book proceeds. If Jack has done things right, you should see a place to vote on the right hand side of your screen. I think Blogger will only let you vote once. The voting will be open until Tuesday, June 21.

I've asked Madi's mom to help me with all the money stuff. Amazon doesn't start paying until 60 days have passed (in order to take care of returns). As of now, there will only be a Kindle book (as that is the only one that Amazon allows you to sell by yourself), but I may put the other versions on another site so that more people can help.

I would like to thank everyone for helping with this project. It's sad to see how many organizations there are that really need money., but hopefully we will be able to help a little.

And Jack is right. He DOES look stoned in that picture! But then again, the way he normally acts, it might be hard to tell if he was! :)

Well, it's been an interesting weekend around here. The tall guy ate some POISON FOOD! And then he had to go to the bathroom A LOT! I did not even know there was such a thing. As poison food that is. I know what a bathroom is. To a dog, the whole world's a bathroom! BOL!!

LOOK WHAT WE DID!!

It seemed like everyone was going out and having fun, so I asked the tall guy if he would take me back up to the lake. AND HE DID! Sometimes he's a pretty good guy. Although I got a bit excited when we got there and just about broke his neck when we were trying to get to the water! I'll have to work on that or we won't get to go back :(

I had to stay on my string because there were a lot of people there fishing and the tall guy was afraid that I would try to go up and say hello to them.

We saw ducks!

And then we went to the ski area where all the snow used to be.

Someone must have borrowed it, because it's all gone now.

I don't know why he wanted to take a picture of a flower, but here it is!

We had a pretty cool day.

We left the windows down so I could dry off on the way home.

And now I don't even stink!

Look at what I got in the mail!

(Inside it says:

See, all the dogs are LABS,

so it's like a play on words!

An extra-nice friend of the tall guys sent it to us

because of the book.

Wasn't that cool?

Well, she is just like that to everyone.

But wait, there's more!!

Her granddaughter, Erin, decided that they should send

me some toys.

Look at what she picked out for me:

A flying fish.

Much like the flying duck you've seen before

AND

a red chew bone.

Actually she sent me two of them.

This one lasted almost 5 minutes!

The other one is hidden away for a special occasion.

(I'm told that special occasion means when I'm driving the tall guy crazy.

We seem to have a lot of special occasions around here!)

So, thank you very much

Erin and Lynn for all my stuff.

PS: That wire you see behind my head in the last picture

is the cable wire that the people who owned the house

before the tall guy put in.

Why they put it on the wall, no one knows,

but now we can't take it down

because there will be a whole bunch of holes in the wall.

So, don't be putting no wires on the wall of your house.
