I'm going to take over Jack's blog today (don't tell him) because today's post is very special for me. One year ago today, I took a short drive and picked up a new part of my life. (A small, yellow, very sharp toothed part of my life!) That first night, we didn't get much sleep - someone (small, yellow, sharp teeth) decided he wanted to demonstrate his love of our indoor/outdoor bathroom facilities every thirty minutes for the entire night. 365 (!) blog posts later, here we are. I don't remember why I decided to start a blog about Jack - I thought I'd be the first person ever to start a blog about a puppy! Since then, I've come across a lot of puppy blogs (and a few kitty ones as well) which just serve to remind me how big a part our 'furry kids' play in our lives. I've found some amazing people online who share their lives and their families, both human and four-pawed, with me through their blogs. There are some great 'peoples' out there who spend a great deal of time helping animals find their forever homes and who, in a pinch, decide that the forever home they were trying to find for their 'temporary visitor' was right in their own house and heart. These are the stories which make me so very happy. There are also those who have lost their friends in this past year. It always hurts to read those blog posts. Please trust me when I say I know how you feel.
My FWOPs (friends without pets) never seem to understand what unconditional love is. Sometimes, when I'm tired and cranky, I don't think I understand it either, but it's always there staring me in the face. Usually wanting a cookie.
I want to thank all of you who have made this a really special year for both Jack and me, but most of all I want to thank one small puppy who has filled a big hole in my heart that I didn't even know was there.
I love you Jack!

I'm happy that you started a "Jack" blog even if you aren't quite sure why you did. I am always amazed at the expressiveness of Jack's face and frequently get a chuckle from the "look" you've captured for us all.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the best Jack-daddy around! I could not ask for anyone better for one of my babies! Love from Theresa and Cassie!
ReplyDeleteLovely post from the Tall Guy. I have enjoyed reading Jack's blog daily since I found it. What a cute puppy Jack was and now he has grown into a very handsome and very loved boy. Yes, you are right Tall Guy, our fur kids do play a special part in our lives and those that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and who are waiting for us certainly leave lasting memories in our hearts :))))

Hi Jack and Tall Guy,
ReplyDeleteMy mom doesn't let me use the "compuder" often but today she said it was a special occasion. Mom found your blog a few months ago and has made reading it to me a part of our day ever since then. Thank you for making us smile :) Happy Forever Home Day!!
Your new friend,
Maggie Mae
Happy Gotcha Day, Jack! This is like a birthday for both you and the Tall Guy! ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog Jack & TG!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this special day! You're both lucky to have found each other. We missed out on Tank's puppyhood (he was about 4 when he came into our lives.) Sometimes I think that would have been LOTS of fun and other times I think we dodged a bullet... HAH
You have a way of capturing Jack's puppy personality that is soooooo fun and entertaining to read. Thanks for all the laughs!

Hi TG and Jack....My hubby and I are leaving for the hills early Sunday morning. Something told me to check your blog...for the Daily Dose of Jack that I always need. Oh my word how happy I am that I checked in with you two. My heart is so full of joy after reading this beautiful tribute to Jack. Yesteday as I was leaving work, I saw a Yellow lab (service dog) waiting patiently by the curb with blind owner. I immediately thought of Jack and how lucky that lady was to have her dog. Almost instantaneously, her ride pulled up...she could not see but that beautiful yellow lab could it stood up, wagged its tail and turned to nudge the hand of the lady. My heart melted at that but today's blog has me speechless (well nearly).
ReplyDeleteOh what we can learn from our furids if we only listen and watch. Thank you, Cecilia aka Mom of Madi and Mom
