Cooking with Jack!

Today's Recipe:
Dirt

1. Go outside (or inside if your peoples do not know how to keep a clean house).

2. Find some dirt.

You can find dirt almost anywhere. You can dig your own hole OR find a place where your peoples have just planted some flowers or (even better) a nice tree. Lots of dirt with half the effort.

3. Gently put the dirt in your mouth - savor its rich, earthy smell. If you're really lucky, there may even be a few small rocks or even some grass mixed in with your dirt. Only the finest establishments have dirt that has rocks AND grass.

4. There are many ways to eat dirt - some puppies like their dirt in a slow cooker with potatoes, carrots and a little red wine, but I find the best way to eat dirt is just to eat it raw.

This recipe feeds 4.

And there you have it. Tune in next time for another family favorite: Substance que vous trouvez sur le plancher autour de la table de dîner!*

* Stuff you find on the floor around the dinner table

Bone Appetit!

  1. Oooooo, is this Chapter One in Mastering the Art of French Puppy Cooking??? Are you going to cook 564 puppy recipes in 365 days??? You could write a book and make a movie and call it "Jack and Julia"

  2. Gotta wait 'til spring, Jack. Our dirt is under 3 feet of snow and we don't think momma would be too pleased if we de-potted her African violets☺

  3. Mmmmm. Delicious dirt Jack!
Btw...we have been skiing near a busy highway road, and a few spots that have unstable creek bridges..so, I am typically on a long lead. But enough to run and play.

  4. Excellent recipe. We find getting it to go - inside - is most pleasing to the humans. And you can just add water for a great soup.

  5. Hi Jack....what a great recipe!!! Do you plan to write a cookbook? If so, will you go on a book tour? If so, are you coming to Raleigh? If so,
may I suggest you stop at Quail Ridge Book Store for autographs and pictures?
    Sincerely,
    Madi

  9. Do not let my Mom see this post Jack. After my tummy problems in Sept, she doesn't really let me eat dirt anymore....

  12. Bon appetit to us all! Can't wait for the next recipe. Yesterday, I cough my sister's bottom sticking out from a large armoire. She was rehearsing for your next recipe, but she mistook the table for any piece of furniture. She's sweet but not the brightest.

  15. Hi Jack...I will pass your recipe on to my grandson. He's two and a half and he'll anything but food. I caught him drinking out of Tootie's water bowl yesterday, so maybe he'll eat dirt. Tootie thinks dirt might upset her delicate little puppy tummy, but when she grows up she wants to try it.
