Will you play
Hide-And-Seek with me?

You will??
Great!
I'll close my eyes
and count to 100.

... 98, 99, 100.

Hey, you didn't hide. :(
I can still see you there sitting at your computer!

You have to hide better than that!!
Go ahead, I'll wait...

=====
Question from the tall guy:
Before you go hide from Jack, I've got a question. Since it's been shown that the people who read Jack's blog are among the top 1% in intelligence in the world, can anyone please tell me what kind of bird this is?
We saw it while we were out walking. Google says it's a scarlet tanager, but I thought I'd ask someone who might actually know! (The picture should blow up pretty big if you click on it!)

We also saw a vibrant turquoise bird this morning, but it flew away before I could get a good picture of it. Thank you in advance for your help!

PS - This was a lucky shot. The bird had been sitting on a limb and decided to take off right as I decided to take the picture. So, instead of the picture I thought I got of the bird sitting on a limb, this was the shot I got.

  1. Jack, I'm sure you were peeking! Start counting again and I promise to hide this time!
    (I'm going to bed!)

TG, Great, "lucky" shot! Yep, it looks like a mature, male Scarlet Tanager!
I'm going to try to make a YouTube video w/ music. Is it difficult? Teachers are the worst students!

  2. That was my guess too. Frequently the best shots I get are not the ones I was actually trying for. Luck or not..that was a great shot!

Jack: I'm going to hide now too.

  3. TG, I have no idea but it looks pretty cool. The shot you got was probably better than the one you wanted to get go figure huh??

  7. That is a great shot of the bird. However, of the 1 % intelligent blog readers you have, I'm in the 1% who can't identify the bird! Also, Jack, I think you cheated. You skipped, like, 97 numbers before you opened your eyes. Even Tootie can count better than that and she's just a baby!

  8. Hi Jack
Tag you are it...now I'm hiding.
Yes it is a Scarlet Tanger boy you have a variety of birds in AZ. Mom needs to come birding.Speaking of birds we had a hawk land on our fence today that was one big bird. He flew in for breakfast but the birds at our seed buffet were too quick for him plus we have domes over the feeders that are clear He could not get to them.

  11. I would love to play tag with you in person. However, most of my playing turns into a football game with me trying to tackle everyone....
Yes, google was right that is a Scarlet Tanger. They are so pretty. Beth loves to watch birds. We have many, many, many feeders in the yard.

  13. I did hide, you dufus! That was my sister you saw. BOL. Listen, as far as birds are concerned, all I want to do is chase them. As far as your photo is concerned, it's beautiful and it was no accident. It is due to your superb prey drive and excellent photographer's timing. Good think I came here on time to set the record straight.
