How Did I Get My Name?

Today we are supposed to tell you how we got our names. I think I already talked about this once before, but I'll tell the story again, as there is nothing like hearing a good story for the 20th or 30th time! :)
Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Tall Guy. Tall Guy was very very sad, because he did not have a puppy to call his own. And to top it all off, his car had a flat tire. So, he called me to come to his house to lift up his car while he changed the tire and then he kidnapped me and made me stay with him. So that is how I got my name!
Tall Guy: Are you crazy????? I guess I'll have to take over and tell you the real story. Jack's whole and complete name is Sundancers Repairman Jack. Sundancers is the name of the wonderful breeders who decided one day they needed to make a Jack and so abracadabra, here he is. The rest of his name, Repairman Jack, is named after a character in a wonderful series of books by an author named F. Paul Wilson. Repairman Jack is a guy who goes around helping people. I knew from the minute I saw him that Jack would always be helpful to anyone who needed it, so there you have it.
Jack: Wait a minute? I'm named after a character in a book?
TG: Yep
Jack: So I could just have easily been named Ashley Wilkes?
TG: Uh..... no. You were ALMOST named Captain Jack after a tv show I was watching, but I don't think Gone With The Wind ever came into the picture.
Jack: Captain Jack would be cool. Let's change my name. You can call me Cap'n!
TG: Uh......no.
Jack: How about Iker Casillas?
TG: Hush.
Jack: So there you have it. Tune in tomorrow, when I, Captain Iker 'Jack' Repairman Casillas Wilkes will bring you another exciting episode of "What's My Name Today?" Oh, and have a great 4th!! Remember, the fireworks are just noise - they won't hurt you!
Mom says thanks fur the Billy Joel ear worm Captain Jack!
ReplyDeleteHugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Great story, Capn.!!! I'll tune in tomorrow fur more!
ReplyDeleteHugs xoxoxo
Sammie
Jack be thankful for your name - it's got to better than being called after a Real Madrid player. Are you going to get some 4th of July treats or is that Thanksgiving ?
ReplyDeleteI thought you were named after my favorite character from Will and Grace...Oh well, "Jack" suits you, regardless of how you got stuck with it!
ReplyDeleteHappy. Yappy 4th!
Repairman? Cool. We seem to have a knack for unrepairing stuff, so maybe we need a repairman in the Herd.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I LOVE your official name. Repairman Jack rocks!
ReplyDeleteSheesh! That book character naming was a close call for sure. What if you had been named Little Dorrit? Or even, gasp, Heathcliff. I think you got off easy.
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Woof! Woof! Oh Jack you should be proud you were named after a book character. ME from a figurine (you got to read it my name game post). The REPAIRMAN is Funny. Your initials SRJ is like a DR, Dr SRJ.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question/comment: YES I only idd one commercial. If the station decided to use me again at the end of year, maybe it will be different. I say it's my mom's fault ...
Have a wonderful safe 4th. NOPE i am not a fan of fireworks. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

Woofs and Licks

Cap'n Jack,
ReplyDeleteMadi gets all doe eyed over the thought of you in a uniform with lots of medals. Now she has a bit of a problem. Will it be Cap'n Jack or Cap'n Ripley who wins her life long devotion. The answer is BOTH!! You two are polar opposites after all. We love the Sundancer part of your name.
Mom and Dad met a Scottie just like Jazzi yesterday. His name was Starbuck. Being the Starbuck junkie, Mom thought his Dad was too.
Nope Starbuck was named after the first Mate in Moby Dick. Don't you just love names!!!
Happy 4th Cap'n Jack
Madi and Mom
Jack
ReplyDeleteRepairman Jack, great name story but I do like the tire story too, that is funny,

Sundancer - like the sound of that. Repairman Jack is good but we kinda like just plain old Jack. Not that you are either plain or old.

Ahoy, Cap'n Jack! My mom LUVS the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and thinks you would make a terrific Cap'n Jack. As for the stories - well, the Tall Guy's story was good but I think I like your version better.
ReplyDeleteWiggles & Wags,
Mayzie
PeeS. My dogness, that Madi is a bit of a coquette, isn't she? I think I will just keeps her flirtationsness secret from Cap'n Ripley. Cuz I like you and I wouldn't want him to "run you through" or anything.
That's a great story, Jack! We were very careful not to call Sam anything - which may be why he doesn't always come when called. BOL! We will have to share the story of Crusty... err... Trusty the Great Dane with you one day! Boy, did we learn about naming from that one!
ReplyDeleteSam
That's a cute story! But, um... I was really expecting to see you decked out in your 4th of July ensemble! C'mon, I know you must have a cute outfit or two ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I like Captain Jack very much. But you need a hat to become a real captain!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, dat be one heck of a story and an absolutely grand name. Ahem, just be glad you wasn't named afters a 5 yr old...hehehe.
ReplyDeleteII swears, you two crack me up. I was starting to wonders if ya'll might be my neighbors cuz mum thinks they stole a dog.
