Hiking!

The tall guy said he was inspired by all the beautiful fall pictures on
some of the other puppy blogs, so he said we would go do
something called hiking.

Evidently, hiking is where you go somewhere, get out of your car and walk for a little bit,
and then say "This is too far to walk" and get back in your car and drive the rest of the way.

We went up to the mountains where the lake is,
but the lake was closed, so we had to drive further up the mountain.

Since it was a weekday and there weren't any cars around,
the tall guy took off my string!

There were lots of interesting smells.
I think this one was 'potato chip'.

I had to keep looking back to make sure the tall guy was keeping up.
Sometimes he walks as slow as molasses in January.
(I have no idea what that means, I just looked on Google
for another way to say 'slowpoke'!

Of course, I found a delicious stick. Sticks just taste better out in the woods.

We then climbed up this rocky path.
I had to wear my string because there were other peoples around.
(Actually, I think I had to wear it so I could pull the tall guy up the path!)

Here's what we saw when we got to the top.
It was pretty awesome.
I asked the tall guy what had happened to the trees
and he said they had been burned in a fire.
But it was still very beautiful.

On the way back down the road,
we saw a chipmonkey.
I had never seen one before,
but now I have!

So we had a very good time on our hiking.
I hope we get to go back again soon.
The tall guy said we would definitely go back
when the snow comes again.

Note from the tall guy:
Please go watch these videos of dogs welcoming home soldiers.
They are amazing!

  5. You are lucky to have mountains all around you and places where you can be unstrung! What fun! I loved those videos. Some of those pups had an awful lot to say to their dads! I could not help but notice that Gracie in the first one looks like my girlfriend mandrae's stunt double!

  9. The videos were awesome!

My (former) assistant says she had a nun in grade school who told the class on a regular basis that they were "as slow as molasses in January."
She says she doesn't really appreciate the flashback:(

    Great hiking pictures!!!
