And now,
for your cooling enjoyment!

Here are some BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER photos
from when I got to go swimming.

I was really raring to go.
(As compared to medium-raring :)

Yes, I was really swimming - no special equipment needed!
I was told that Labradorables are just natural swimmers.
I think that means they swim without any clothes on.

You have to stop and make sure that you're not
stepping on the fishes.
They don't like that.

It's even fun when we had to leave. The tall guy left the windows open and my hair got blown all over the mountain. It was like a puppy hair snowstorm!

July 14, 2010

Well now look at what happened!

Well, my last bike got pretty messed up from the last crash. Evidently, the store did not have any more big bicycles, so this is what the tall guy brought home for me to ride in the Tour de Jack! Although it IS pretty neato (it even has a bell), I don't think I will be able to get very far very fast. For one thing, it is awfully hard for my feet to reach the pawdles when I am sitting on the seat. And if my feet are on the pawdles, it's almost impossible for me to steer. And then there's the whole big wheel/little wheel thing going on.

The tall guy said this was called a try-cycle. I told him he should TRY to go back to the store and get me a good one with only two wheels. I even showed him this one. He said that one was 6000 pounds. I told him that might be a little bit heavy when I was trying to ride up those steep mountains. So I guess I'm stuck with this one for a while, until the tall guy falls asleep and I can get some of those paper things out of his wallet. Wish me luck!

Tour de Jack
Rest Day!!

No, I am not drowning.
I am swimming!

Well fortunately today was a rest day at the Tour de Jack, so the tall guy took me up to the lake so I could 'wet my whistle'. I have no idea what that means, except when he whistles I'm supposed to come running. Like I don't have anything better to do. Anyway, I got to play in the water for a long time and even got to put my head under the water to find some sticks. We didn't see any ducks this time, but there were a couple of other dogs including a German Shepherd who was not happy that I got to go swimming and he didn't. It was so much fun and the tall guy even let me stink all the way home before he beat me with the towel, er.... dried me off with the towel. So now I'll be all rested up and ready to go tomorrow!

I do not know how I learned to swim. I think it is like puppy magic or something because I did not know how to swim before I was born. Still, the tall guy did not let me off my string, so I didn't get to swim very far. I showed him the pictures of puppies who get to run and jump off the rocks into the water, but he said I would scare the fish away and then all the people who were fishing would get mad at him and yell at him and make him feel like yesterday's pizza. (I don't think he understands the concept of analogies yet, but we're working on it.) We still had a very good time. Several people told the tall guy that it was pretty neat that I got to go swimming. I have to say that I agree!!

OH NOES!!!

There's been yet ANOTHER crash in this years Tour de Jack!
When the other guy hit me,
my foot slipped off my pawdle
and down I went.
I fell so hard even my helmet flew off.
So kids, make sure you wear your helmet
when you're riding your bike.

I'm never going to get to the finish line
in Paris at this rate!
Maybe I should just go visit Wilf
and take it easy for a while.

Tour de Jack!

(First Mountain Stage)

Wow, I never knew how hard it was to ride a bicycle all the way up these mountains. So, about half way up, I asked my friend, Mr. Lance Armstrong, if he would give me a ride and he said he would be glad to! Boy, was I ever glad.

I told him that I would carry le Frisbee Jaune so that everyone would know that we were still the 'leader of the pack' (so to speak).

Tour de Jack!

Bonjour, mes amis!

Jacques here, on Day 6 of the Tour de Jack!
I hope you'll keep watching to see if I can keep wearing the
maillot jaune and be the first puppy to win
the Tour de Jack!

The mountains are coming up, so see you there.

Oh, and by the way,
all you puppies who like to try to chase peoples
when they are riding by on their bikes,
just what are you going to do when you catch them?
Did you ever think about that? :)

HOOSIERS

Is there a movie your peoples make you watch all the time?
Here is the one we watch:

It's called Hoosiers and we have to watch it like 4 times a day. I don't know why, because the same thing happens every time. But the tall guy likes to watch it because he says it makes him feel good. Well I told him it made me feel good the first 208 times we watched it, but lately I just want that one guy to miss the last shot.

He even has one of the original movie posters from the movie, but we are not allowed to look at it in case our eyeballs might fall out from the wonderfulness of it!

What movie do your peoples make you watch all the time?

BUTTSES

Wow, after reading all the comments from yesterday, I've come to the conclusion that there must be an awfully lot of big buttses out there. It seems like no one wants to have their picture taken running around naked with a dishpan in their mouth. What if puppies felt that way? You would only have like 3 pictures in your puppy family album.

Well, on second thought, if everyone looks as bad naked as the tall guy, I guess it's for the best! :)

The Sharing of the Pot!

Oh no, you silly hippie children of the '60s, that's not what I mean. Once you get all the water out of the pail at the dog park, you can make all the people laugh if you pick it up and run around with it. But for some reason, Superboy (aka Kal-El) decided that he needed to help me run around with the pail.

I think we need a contest. Get one of the peoples who lives in your house and have them pick up a large plastic dishpan with their teeth. Then have them run around the house with it. Not so easy is it!! Now have them do it again, but take their picture so we can all see how silly they look! :) Please send the pictures to the tall guy. The winner gets their picture put on the blog so EVERYONE can see them running around your house carrying a plastic dishpan in their mouth. No extra points for nudity!

July 6, 2010

I will show you how to do it!

Can you believe that some puppies do not know how to dig for water in the big water dishes at the puppy park? This is Kal-el and I have decided to show him how to keep yourself cool after you've been running around and acting like a fool. What have YOU shown someone how to do?

How Did Chickenpox Get Its Name?
No wait, that's not right.

How Did Monkey's Eyebrow, KY Get Its Name?

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Oh now I remember.
How Did I Get My Name?
by Jack

Me

Today we are supposed to tell you how we got our names. I think I already talked about this once before, but I'll tell the story again, as there is nothing like hearing a good story for the 20th or 30th time! :)

Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Tall Guy. Tall Guy was very very sad, because he did not have a puppy to call his own. And to top it all off, his car had a flat tire. So, he called me to come to his house to lift up his car while he changed the tire and then he kidnapped me and made me stay with him. So that is how I got my name!

Tall Guy: Are you crazy????? I guess I'll have to take over and tell you the real story. Jack's whole and complete name is Sundancers Repairman Jack. Sundancers is the name of the wonderful breeders who decided one day they needed to make a Jack and so abracadabra, here he is. The rest of his name, Repairman Jack, is named after a character in a wonderful series of books by an author named F. Paul Wilson. Repairman Jack is a guy who goes around helping people. I knew from the minute I saw him that Jack would always be helpful to anyone who needed it, so there you have it.

Jack: Wait a minute? I'm named after a character in a book?

TG: Yep

Jack: So I could just have easily been named Ashley Wilkes?

TG: Uh..... no. You were ALMOST named Captain Jack after a tv show I was watching, but I don't think Gone With The Wind ever came into the picture.

Jack: Captain Jack would be cool. Let's change my name. You can call me Cap'n!

TG: Uh......no.

Jack: How about Iker Casillas?

TG: Hush.

Jack: So there you have it. Tune in tomorrow, when I, Captain Iker 'Jack' Repairman Casillas Wilkes will bring you another exciting episode of "What's My Name Today?" Oh, and have a great 4th!! Remember, the fireworks are just noise - they won't hurt you!

July 3, 2010

It's like Christmas in July!
(except that it's like 200 degrees!)

We were sitting at home yesterday, minding our own business, when what to our wondering eyes would appear, but a miniature sleigh and eight.... no wait, it was the mail guy. And look what he brought:

A box. Well everyone knows that good things come in boxes, so we got very excited. We were not even expecting a box. And if you look at the arrow, you can get a clue as to who it is from!

That's right. Remington! Remington is so cool, he even has his own address labels! They are not all blurry like you see in the picture. I just didn't want him to get a lot of junk mail from the dog food companies trying to hire him to be their spokespuppy.

Well, not only was there this really great yellow paper, but there was a FOOTBALL! I don't even have a football, but now I do. I had one, but we have decided it's best not to discuss that at this time. There was also some paper with some dates on it when these people called the Vikings were going to come and pillage the earth. What? Oh, these Vikings are a football team. Well, I hope they remember to play nice when they are pillaging and sacking.

I got so excited I forgot to take off the cardboard. AND IT SQUEAKS!!! SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!! Squeak is a cool word!

There were also some treats. I needed a little help in getting those open.

This shows you how good they were. I don't sit for just any old treat!

So, all in all, it was a most excellent surprise. Thank you Remington and thank you Remington's mom and dad!! I hope you're having a great trip in your house with wheels!

July 2, 2010

Well now I'm just embarrassed!

Come to find out I wasn't really captured. I was just in the neighborhood dog area. I had been there hundreds of times, but I guess maybe the heat got to me. And, to top it all off, the tall guy was sitting there watching me all the time. 'Who do you think was taking the pictures?', he asked me. Anyway, thanks to everyone who offered to help me yesterday. It is very nice knowing that if I ever DO get captured by the enemy, I'll have lots of friends who will come help me escape or provide me a place to hide!

PS - This is not the big dog park. This is just a place in the neighborhood where the neighborhood dogs can gather to smoke cigarettes, drink coffee and gossip. Without the cigarettes and coffee part.

OH OH OH!!! Just wait until tomorrow so I can tell you about my BIG SURPRISE that came in the mails! I would tell you about it today, but then I wouldn't have anything to talk about tomorrow! I'll give you a hint - it involves one of the nicest puppies in the world. Could it be YOU??

The Great Escape!

I had been captured by the enemy. Thrown behind the fence with no means of escape. Only food and water and ONE ball for me to play with!

But then I came up with a plan. A master escape plan would get me out of here. But it would take time - and cunning - and a soupçon of engine-nuity. (How I know the word 'soupçon' but not 'ingenuity' is a story for another day.) Shhhhhh.... the tall guy is coming. I'll have to fill you in on my plan tomorrow!

SHADE!!

I feel so bad for those poor puppies who don't have any shade in which to lay.
I think that shade is one of the best things ever invented,
next to the ice cube and cookies.
Shade is so 'cool' that if they would make a shade-flavored
puppy food, I would eat it all the time.
Did you ever notice that SHADE is just HADES
with the S on front instead of the back? Isn't that odd?
So for today,
I am sending everyone some nice shade,
even those cats who poop in other people's yards!

WOO-WOO!!!

Puppy train forming.
Do not cross the tracks when the barrier is down!
And someone tell the caboose back there
to hurry up!

That reminds me of something.
A lot of places have a puppy park,
so how come they don't have a kitty park?
Cats need fun too!

A Puppy Walks Into a Bar...

One day, in the Old West, a puppy walked into a bar.

'Gimme a shot', he yelled to the bartender.

'Sure thing', the bartender replied. 'Measles or Whooping Cough?'

Vaccination humor always makes me laugh! :)

I FINALLY found something
I am good at!

The tall guy said when he was growing up,
he used to play a game called 'Freeze Tag'.
Whenever the person who was IT tagged you,
you couldn't move until one of your teammates 'unfroze' you.
He said some people called it 'Statues'.
Anyway...
he took these pictures of me when we were at the park.
He said they were taken over a period of like 5 minutes.

I AM pretty good at it, aren't I? :)

I told him next time to get up off his butt and
get some different angles!

The New jackPhone

I left the camera app
so the tall guy can take more pictures!

(Note from TG: Well I did it. After about 650 posts, I accidentally deleted yesterday's post while it was active! Once a post is deleted, you can NOT undelete it. But I did find out that Blogger keeps copies of all the pictures you've ever posted. So if you accidentally (or deliberately - who am I to judge!) delete a picture after you've posted it to Blogger, you can go to http://www.picasaweb.com, log in using your Blogger name and password and your pictures should be there! Unfortunately, any text or comments that you had on the blog post are gone. Gone, gone gone! Gone With The Wind. And frankly, my dear, Blogger don't give a darn!)

Someone (not me) got a package today!!

I don't think the tall guy will mind if I open it!

I don't know what this iP hone is,
but it sure makes a lot of noise.
And why does that guy have his picture on there?
That doesn't look at ALL like me!

From TG: If you notice anything strange,
check in tomorrow!
If you don't notice anything strange,
check in tomorrow anyway! :)

June 23, 2010

I just figured it out!

I just figured out why the tall guy
can't run as fast as I can!

He ain't got no TAIL!!!

I don't know why I hadn't noticed before.

I tried to take a picture of him
as he was coming out of the shower this morning,
but he was not co-operative.
(He's not a morning person.
Also something about a strange place
where the sun don't shine.)

Anyway,
do your peoples not have tails,
or is it just the tall guy?

We eagerly await your replies!

And just in case you haven't seen this:

Excuse me, please.

Excuse me, please, while I stare intently at something.

Excuse me, please, while I chew my stick.

Excuse me, please, while I make a sniff.

Excuse me, please, while I look at this bird.

Excuse me, please, while I roll around in the shade.

Oops, I'm sorry.
I was so busy doing other stuff
I forgot to write the blog today.
I'll blame it on the tall guy!

Have a great doggy bloggy day!!
