Guess What We Saw Today!!

We were out at the park just minding our own business
and guess what we saw?

There, did you see it?

Yep, it was a coyote.
Well, maybe not THIS coyote,
but it was a coyote nonetheless!

It just crossed the path about 10 feet in front of us.
At first, the tall guy thought it was
a dog, but then he realized what it was.

I wanted to go talk to it,
but the tall guy wouldn't let me.

We don't know where it was going,
but it just went on about its merry way.
By the time the tall guy could get his
phone out to take a picture, it was already
pretty far away.
(We don't know if the coyote is in the picture
above, but that's how far away it got
before the tall guy could get his camera phone out.)
So, if you look outside and see a coyote tonight,
please tell him that Jack said hello!

  1. Jack, how exciting for you and the tall guy. I don't know much about coyotes but I think maybe it was best you didn't get too close. Sometimes our 2 leggers do things that are best for us and I guess we have to trust them. We live off of a marsh and haven't seen any but I will give a shout out if I do(from inside the house of course). If you find out more about them, could you let me know.

  2. Jack - If it was yellow with blue stripes then it was definitely in the photo .

  3. I was checking out the car in the photo, thinking it was an old Plymouth "Roadrunner" (coyote/roadrunner-duh)
That is very scary...although we hear them and see their scat, I have never seen a coyote!
    Do be careful!

  4. How exciting, Jack. But I would be very scared. We saw a pair of coyotes once on our walk around the big water in the park across the street. I bark a big game, so people don't realize it, but I am really a 90 pound scaredy cat...not really a cat! LOL!

  6. Jack what an exciting story. MOL to Ms. Kit's comment. She is one sharp GA Peach.
Thank goodness you were attached to your string because I'm pretty sure you would have thought a close up and personal visit was in order.

Rest assured, if I look at my window tonight and see a coyote, I'll tell it hello right after I give Mom CPR.
    Hugs from your BFFF,

  7. Cool! We have coyotes here on our island - lots of them. We hear them howl but they're pretty good at keeping out of sight.

Mom saw one at the dog park in OH. It came over & sat by the fence to watch the dogs. Star & Sherman went over & sat looking back at it till it skipped away. she says it was a cool encounter!

so glad you got to see a coyote up close jack. they are really very wonderful, shy creatures.
it probably thought... wow! he looks a little like one of us but he's so smooth and well fed! wonder how he does it?
they call to each other at night all the time here. a little night music.

  13. We saw a coyote the other day too. In a parking lot where there are lots of little kids. He was just passing through....looked like a big dog.

  16. Are you sure that you and TG hadn't just visited that place I saw on TV called "Coyote Ugly?". I think after you spend some time there, you take pics of all kinds of things you think you see in the distance. Just askin' - don't get all defensive.

    Woofs and ugly slobbers,
