OUCH!!

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/technology/2012/04/cactus-patch-puppy-up-for-adoption/

Always be careful where you stick your nose around here!

I've only gotten stuck one time and boy did I learn my lesson.  Fortunately, it was on my leg and the tall guy got it off.  He got all stuck in his hand, but he said he didn't even care as long as he got it off of me!

It was one of these:  (Jumping Cholla)
and boy did I jump when it got on me!!

And just in case you can't read the story about 'Cactus Jack', the puppy in the first picture, here is a picture showing that he is doing just fine now!  They filled up a big bucket with all the stickers they pulled off of him!  Ouch, indeed!!

  1. Ooooooooh, poor little puppy - so happy that he's okay now...

Aren't you glad the tall guy was there to help you, Jack? I'm sure glad he was!

    Stay safe!

  2. Those Chollas are BED! Our Angel sister Allie once ran into one when chasing a rabbit and some of the stickers went THROUGH her ear. The vet had to sedate her and they pulled 60 stickers out of her -- ears, face, GUMS and TONGUE. Never happened again! Careful, Jack!

  7. Lady had an encounter with Mr. JC the first year she visited the Sonoran Desert. KT and Brother Chip spent an hour with needle nose pliers picking the needles out one by one. It was delightful....not. BTW, I have experienced something worse: Mr. Porcupine. Our first Golden Sadie was exploring the Thumb Butte area of Prescott when she decided to give Mr.P a kiss. BIG mistake. That was a four hour plier fest. She never moved or complained during the extraction ordeal.
You be careful out there Jack!!!

  9. Bowsers! That looked painful! Thank you Jack, for that valuable lesson. Being still new to the Tucson area, I'm finding Arizona has quite the array of bizarre wonders of nature. My first being a shy, ugly looking dog (javelina) that was in the need of a strong stick of deodorant and a attitude adjustment!

  12. Yikes, you live in a tough neighborhood, dude! There are little tiny burrs around here, but nothing like what you have. AND you have rattlesnakes! Good thing the TG is always on the job, looking out for you.

The ugliest thing I have met yet is a big ole (and I mean big) spider.

Oh yeah and Allred (devil cat)
