The tall guy and I go into the wilds looking for
unusual creatures that roam the big city!

TG: What IS that thing on your head?
J: It's a pith helmet.
TG: Well, that's not a very nice thing to say!
J: ??????? Oh......PITH....PITH......PITH helmet.
TG: Oh, PITH helmet. Got it.
J: Nevermind, I'll just take it off.

J: Shhhh, be vewwy vewwy quiet!
TG: So, you're Elmer Fudd now.
J: Who?
TG: Elmer Fudd, vewwy vewwy quiet...
J: Do you mean the young, narcissistic, womanizing college athlete who abandons his early ambition to become a lawyer?
TG: No, that's Elmer Gantry.
J: You sure do know a lot of guys named Elmer. You probably know the glue guy.
TG: Who?
J: The glue guy - Elmer's Glue.


J: A-HA!
TG: What? You see a 1980s pop band best known for their hit 'Take on Me'?
J: Yes, that's exactly what I meant. [Exasperated Sigh]*

Your eyeballs need exercise too!

Whenever you're outside lying in the yard,
try squishing your forehead down so your eyeballs are real squinty!
It helps if you wrinkle up your nose at the same time.
Then look REAL SURPRISED so that everything goes back up!

Walking with Jack -
It's like eating tar!*

OK, first you need to stop like every 3 feet to sniff.
Sniff..
Sniff..

Then, when the person pulling your string says "Come on!", make sure you move your head up about 3 inches and sniff some more.

3 inch sniff..
3 inch sniff..

Next, we move to the vegetation area.
Look intently at one weed for about an hour.

Intense look...
Intense look...

Then right when you look like you are about ready to go,
Raise up your head and look at another weed,
like you have never seen such a sight in your entire life!

Wow, look at that weed.
I do think that is an 'austrailius anthropoliticus renumii'*

Then, when your person least expects it, stick your head in a bush and pull out a baseball!***

And that is how you should take a walk!

*(Note from the Tall Guy: I have NO idea what that means. I think he's gotten into the dognip!**)
**(Note from the Tall Guy: If cats can have catnip, surely dogs can have dognip!)
***(True story - I thought he was chasing a ground squirrel and then he pops up with a baseball in his mouth. Cool!)

Jack's New Version
of FETCH!!

Puppies have been playing fetch for millions of years now (cats - not so much). So I've decided we need to change up the rules a bit.

(For those puppies who like playing the OLD way, you can still play that way too. Remember, we are puppies - we can do pretty much whatever we want and our peoples will still love us!)

Step 1: Get ready! Wait for your person to throw the ball! Concentrate - don't let them fake you out when they pretend to throw it but keep it in their hand. (I'm onto you tall guy!!)

Step 2: Run after the ball as fast as you can!

Step 3: And here's the new part. Run off into the shade. Then you can chew on the ball while the tall guy has to walk ALL THE WAY to where you are. Now, isn't that more fun than taking it back every time? I thought so too!

See. You get exercise AND clean teeth at the same time! AND the tall guy gets exercise too because you are like 50 miles away from where he threw the ball! It's a WIN-WIN for everyone! :)

Even more reasons to be happy!!

Guess what I got in the mail?

And then look at what all was in the box:

A goose that made a lot of noise!
(I only got to play with that for a minute -
it's up on the refrigerator now.)

And then I got a toy with a plastic bottle inside!

I got to play with that a long time,
(until I tore off its ear).

And there were even eaty things.
Nom nom nom nom - all gone!

LABRADORABLE!!

The tall guy said that since I didn't do anything cute today,

when we went up to the water.

Trust me, it's not an easy thing to do.
And it hurts your eyeballs when you try to turn them around to see!

Where do YOU
get to sleep?

I don't know why peoples put all these sheets and blankets and stuff all over a perfectly good puppy bed. As you can see, it would be much nicer if there were just a few pillows and a bone or cookie to chew on when you wake up in the middle of the night.

Oh, and the tall guy specifically wanted me to tell you that this is not his bed. Something about his mama would die if she ever saw an unmade bed like that!

You do know that there is a law that says that puppies get to occupy 2/3rds of any furniture they happen to fall asleep on.

I also have a couch that I get to sleep on when the tall guy starts snoring too much, but that's another story!

So, do you get to sleep with your peoples in their bed? Where do YOU get to sleep?

NOW you did it!!!

It seems that the tall guy reads all the comments that peoples leave on here and now he thinks that all puppies do NOT get to go on four walks every day.

I think maybe he just misunderstood what you were saying. So here's what I need for you to do.

I need you to tell the tall guy that you get to go on at LEAST 4 walks every day! (This includes you Madi!!)

And it would be nice if you could tell him that you get a nice big steak at least once a week, just for you.

Do you want to see something cute?

It is a baby ground squirrel. There were like 80 bazillion of them in one spot and they were not even scared of me or nothing. Well, until I got close. Then they ran back into their holes. The mom was close by and gave a kind of a HUFF when I got too close. I guess she was telling them they only had a minute left to play. Well, maybe a minute and a HUFF! LOLOLOLOL!!
