January 10, 2010

Ah, there you are.
I found you!!

You did pretty good that time.
I had to look for you for a whole day!
But I figured you'd come back here,
so I decided just to wait.
And when you came back,
I found you!!

So, now it's my turn to hide
while you count.

  1. Love that you waited Jack! Not sure if I could do that...too many things to sniff and snaggle...probably would get myself in all sorts of trouble.
    See you again soon pal!

    Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

  6. my obedience trainer offers it along with protection and therapy dog service training. My obedience trainer is a retired k9 officer and trained many police dogs.

i plan to enroll Loki in Schutzhund when we move to Switzerland in which search is just one of the many sports in that kind of work.

Labradors make EXCELLENT search dogs. In many or most cases, BETTER search dogs than GSDs. If you wanted to try it, I would say you definitely have the breed. You can do some simple hide and seek games around the house and see if he's motivated to find you. BIG REWARDS when he finds you. Like its freaking thanksgiving or christmas day. or whatever he goes crazy for, a ball or a tug or food. whatever that is, if he finds you, you make a big party out of it. once he has a solid idea of seeking YOU out, you build on that and enroll in a search class. Dogs LOVE this game! seek out some trainers in your area and check it out!

  10. Since I'm teaching Tootie to count in four languages, I'll let her do the honors while you hide. Shouldn't take too long...arrff, arrff, arrff...

  14. Momma says her brother used to do that to her when she was little. He would tell her to hide and she would think he was looking for her but he wasn't and she would come out and find him watching the Tee-Vee. She says this was not a nice trick but I find it hilarious!
