November 1, 2009

I thought after this Howl-oween thing was over (and I'll write more about THAT tomorrow), that everything would go back to normal around here. But no, even more mysteries have started.

The tall guy and I were out walking this morning and I noticed all these strange markings on the ground. (Since I am closer to the ground, it was a lot easier for me to see.) It looked like someone was trying to leave us a message!

I sniffed a little further and BAM! There was a long white line. Someone was DEFINITELY trying to leave me a message. Maybe someone was trapped and needed me to rescue them. Maybe someone who had white chalk tied to their foot was dragged from THIS VERY SPOT to ANOTHER VERY SPOT!! I knew I had to follow the line!

A-HA! (Not the musical group). Another clue. But wait, what if someone knew I would be following the clues and left THIS clue to throw me off the scent. I was evidently dealing with a very shrewd criminal mastermind! So, armed with the knowledge that they would be probably definitely deliberately trying to mis-direct me, I kept steadfast. (Although with the tall guy lagging behind, it was more like keeping stead-SLOW!)

"Hurry", I barked! "It's just ahead, I can feel it!"

And then we saw them! BIRDS! Millions of them! Trying to carry off this house! The people were trying to warn us to stay away. But then the birds saw us!

We have to run. We must get away! We MUST GET AW....................................

Today's post is most fascinating and indeed a mystery. I for one am glad to know that Jack the Great Lab is on duty. Mom says she loves the tile roof on the house..

  2. YIKES! Now we have to worry about the birds TOO?!!

My (former) assistant says The Birds was one of her favorite Hitchcock movies, but it did scare the X#$@ out of her... not sure what that means exactly, but it doesn't sound good.

  4. Oh Jack...I hope you, the Tall Guy and the house all are safe. Any time we see a "herd of birds" while we are on our walks it makes my mom nervous. I think she saw that Hitchcock movie one too many times.

  5. Wow - I'll have to keep an eye out for roaming flocks of birds. We see a few pigeons - but we seems to have been invaded by squirrels - busy collecting all the acorns in my Park - it's very confusing. Will add birds to the list.

  8. I'm not so fond of those birds either - but at least you don't have a possum sittin outside your door - that little thing is driving me crazy - I bark and bark and he just stares at me through the glass......if only I could get through that glass I would tear him up!

  10. The mystery of the birds carrying off the house....I believe you are on the right track. Remember -- It's elementary my dear Jack. Have you located to house now that they have taken it? Keep up the good work and be sure to keep me posted, they may be on their way up here. I do believe that deerfoot is now at Madi's house tearing down street signs. We may have to road trip to her house to investigate. Be ready Jack....I will send a telegram with details....RS
